Only on the net - not up close and personal. I'm hearing that GOOGLE is having some problems and really, I don't expect to be very wide ranging in any case. Lot of Palms out there and a majority of them are running WM, not Palm OS which IS really pretty darned good. Give it time, I guess, but I ain't holding my breath. HA !! |

I thought it was pretty cool looking and it's got some really good apps/applets etc for sure. It'll be fun to see how it goes. I would like very much to see it live. Have to find a phone store that has it on a phone. |

Are you going to add a section for Android when it finally arrives? I've seen some of the videos from the demo and I like it. Too bad verizon will probably be the last carrier to offer phones with it. |

Yes - It's a whole new platform from Google. Only one or two manufacturers have even said that they would release phones with it. I really think that it's gonna die on the vine - could be wrong. |

Android is the OS. Its basically linux modified to be a very powerful Java machine. The entire thing will be java based and completely customizable. Google is opening up the API's to all developers so if the basic OS can do it, you can write your own program to do it too. I haven't written a Java program in a while, but this might get me to pull out my books on it. The first phone that will supposedly have it (rumored, but lots of evidence that it is true) will be the new HTC Dream coming to T-Mobile. This thing will be similar to the HTC Touch Pro in features but since it will have a free OS, should cost cheaper. Check out the video.

If you can't wait, jump to the end starting at minute 7 and watch the Google streetview demo. That is awesome. |

Don't get me wrong, it is definitely very cool and it would be great - if it ever gets off the ground. More power to 'em but no matter how good it may be, they've got to get it on phones - a lot of phones, before the money runs out. |

Android is being backed by Google. I don't think they'll run out of money. Based on who is in the alliance to create Android and the speculations of phones being out of stock and all the rumor about the release date. Here is my prediction of things to come.
In mid to late September, 2 Android devices will be announced for release in late October. T-mobile will feature the new HTC Dream ($199) and Sprint will have a new Q (non-touch still but with WiFi for $99). These will be the only phones with Android until 2009. March of 09, T-mobile will release a lower end model (something non-touch) and Sprint will have a higher end model, I'm guessing an HTC Touch Pro or possibly touchscreen Q. Late summer of 09, AT&T will release smaller iPhone (aka iPhone nano) at $99 price to compete. By the end of 09, Sprint and T-Mobile will both release a third Android phone. 2010, Verizon will give up on CDMA, buy out either Sprint or T-Mobile and release their own Verizon branded Android phone. During this time Carriers will also switch from offering a million different phones to offering a few phones with more updates.
That last part is more a wish then a prediction, but I really hope it happens. Yes I am hoping that Android kicks WM off the map. I just like the idea of an OS where anything and everything can be customized. Maybe this will cause MS to change their thinking for WM7 and make it a much better OS. |

Actually, the Napoleon is a world phone with GSM capability. I read one review where the reviewer put in an AT&T sim card and it worked.
I wasn't referring to the Napolean exactly. Check out this video. Doesn't it look like a Q9 to you?
