Samsung releases update for Omnia November 26, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.
Samsung has spent many millions on advertising of Omnia phone, so no wonder that it is spending some money also on software upgrades...
To learn more visit Samsung Omnia upgrade for Vodafone version of Omnia http://samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/uk/vodafone/vodafone.jsp or general Samsung Omnia upgrade. http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp See also: more information and screenshots of this update for Omnia. http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news4430.html
Vodafone version provides "Rich Internet" program to enable access to Vodafone's portal. Also Handango's weak attempt at app store is included: Handango InHand - that is incomplete and does not cover freeware. Probably Samsung thought that including any, even inferior, substitute for app store, is better than nothing. Clearly Microsoft must hurry up as with app store inside (!) of each device (app store for Windows Mobile will be called "Skymarket"), as nowadays all competing smartphone platforms already have it.
Samsung Omnia is a great phone with 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and it has only one disdvantage: display with rather low resoultion of 240x400. However since in Korea already an Omnia with 800x480 resolution has been announced, one can hope that it will arrive some time also to Europe and USA... |
